This year brings in an intense telecom battle. Reliance Jio has almost dethroned Bharti Airtel and is set to become one of the largest telecom operators in India.
How is Airtel getting their market share back from Jio?
Airtel is getting ready for the battle as well. This year Airtel is focusing on improving its network and expanding its 4G capacity. They are planning to expand the 4G capacity as it is estimated that among the 400 million telecom subscribers of India, almost 98% will enable their phones with 4G by the end of this year. At present, the customers who have subscribed to Airtel 4g is 20% whereas Jio has 100%. In order to prevent its customers from shifting to Jio, Airtel has to make sure they are having better 4g services. They also aim to secure the highest net additions of smartphone subscribers month after month. They also have an eye on weaning away customers from Vodafone Idea and getting the highest share of postpaid customers as currently, the number of postpaid subscribers is 45%. As there is a demand for high-speed data they will cater to its growth by doubling the number of fiber towers. These are the aggressive targets set by Airtel to get back their market share from Jio and become the largest in the telecom industry.
