Success Story of Elon Musk

Elon Musk is an entrepreneur, innovator, engineer, and an inventor who is famous for his futuristic out-of-the-box ideas. He is the founder and co-founder of big names including Tesla Motors – an electric car company, PayPal, SpaceX, Solar City, and Hyper loop – a high-speed transportation system. His passion is designing spaceships and electric cars, and he works around 100 hours a week.

He was born on 28th June 1971 to a South African-born British father and Canadian mother in Pretoria in South Africa. At the age of 12, Elon developed a computer game similar to ‘Space Invaders’ called Blastar and sold it for $500. In the year 1988, he relocated to Canada and enrolled himself in Queen’s University in Ontario and after two years he transferred to University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1995, Elon moved to California and co-founded a web software company named ‘Zip2’ along with his brother Kimbal Musk.

In the year 1999, Zip2 was acquired by AltaVista for a record deal of $307 Million. He used this money to create ‘X.com’ in March 2000 and in 2001, it merged with its competitor ‘Confinity’, which was later named “PayPal’ and in the year 2002, PayPal was acquired by eBay for a whopping amount of $1.5 Billion.

After selling his stocks in PayPal, he invested $10 Million in SolarCity Corporation in the year 2003. Also in the same year, Marc Tarpenning and Martin Eberhard founded Tesla Motors and in the year 2004, Elon joined them after an investment of $70 Million and went on to design the first electric car named Tesla Roadster. In the year 2006, he received the ‘Global Green’ award for Tesla Roadster. As of 2018, Tesla Motors became the Number 1 American Auto brand leaving behind Ford and General Motors.

Elon Musk also founded SpaceX and has got contracts from the Air Force and NASA for conducting military missions and designing rockets. By 2025, Elon is planning to send an astronaut to Mars.

As of June 2018, the net worth of Elon Musk is estimated at nearly $21 Billion, out of which nearly $11.5 Billion comes from Tesla.
