COVID-19 Pandemic: Delhi child right body starts helpline to counsel children

Novel Coronavirus pandemic is equally affecting small kids and their parents. In such a scenario, it is essential to stay positive, spent quality time with family, and to be honest while communicating with children.

The Delhi Commission for Protection of Childs Right (DCPCR), in partnership with COVID Response’ a not-for-profit initiative – has set up a central helpline to provide counseling to kids and their parents to calm down their anxieties in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

The helpline no – 011 – 41182977 will be in use from 10 am to 7 pm, seven days a week until April 30. Later, the operating hours of the helpline may extend based on the response from users.

  • The helpline aims at counseling the children and their parents to cope up with the stress and the uncertainties in a better way caused due to the deadly coronavirus infection.
  • The DCPDR also invited applications from citizens with a psychology background or indulged in social work to join this initiative.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development has also started many programs to encourage parents to keep communicating with their children and help them overcome the negative thoughts in these stressful times.

On Saturday, the experts of the World Health Organization declared the use of facemasks, gloves, and other protective gear would help in protecting the community at large. The government in advisory also asked people to wear either medical or homemade facemasks. Frequent hand washing and social distancing are other effective ways to stay safe.
