Homemade facemask worn by PM Modi in Video Conference with CMs

PM Narendra Modi on Saturday led a video conferencing with the chief ministers of all states. He discussed whether the 21-day lockdown requires an extension or not. During the meeting, the PM Modi was wearing a homemade facemask.

  • Many other chief ministers were also seen sporting facemasks.
  • Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thakeray covered his face with a surgical mask despite homemade facemask. Currently, his state is at the highest risk. There is a maximum number of COVID-19 cases.
  • Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath, was also seen covering his face. 
  • West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee and Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa were also part of the meeting.

As per the records, almost all states have agreed to extend the 21-day lockdown. Punjab and Odisha have already announced the lockdown extension till April 30. Amid the alarming spike in the COVID-19 cases, the ministers discussed strategies over the pandemic to avoid its spread. 

Last week, the Ministry of Health and Family welfare had already issued an advisory over the coronavirus pandemic. The health officials urged people to wear a surgical mask or homemade facemask. People should not step out of their homes without a Mask. The Times of India has also started a campaign in the name of ‘MASKINDIA.’ The purpose of the campaign is to encourage people to wear a face mask as a preventive measure. 

Updated case list: As per the current report, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India reaches to 7,447. The death toll at 239 and about 700 already cured and discharged. Undoubtedly, the 21-day lockdown needs extension beyond April 14.
